The Go-Lab project creates a pedagogical framework that encompasses an inquiry process structure and for each inquiry process a selection and specification of cognitive scaffolds. The project’s approach promotes a reversal of school science teaching pedagogy from mainly deductive to inquiry-based methods, which is more likely to increase students’ interest and attainment in science. The direct interaction with science reflects a fundamental pedagogy of the Go-Lab project to provide learners with personal and direct experiences they can build upon in their own ways.
Emerging technology-enhanced learning applications (e.g. plug and play interfaces, cloud computing, media- and process-rich virtual classrooms and immersive collaborative learning spaces) require a powerful technological infrastructure able to support such advanced learning and teaching approaches. To address this, the Go-Lab Portal provides innovative, interactive, collaborative and context-aware tools and functionalities offering student-centred interface, focusing on contextualized and adaptable learning experiences.
