ASTRONOMY: Online Labs for Inquiry Minds

NUCLIO (Potugal) together with University of Twente (The Netherlands) and University of South Wales (UK) organises a five day workshop for teachers introducing inquiry learning methods and the use of online laboratories for science education in schools. The workshop will take place from 11th to 15th April 2014 at the University of Twente, The Netherlands.

In order to participate in this training event you have to apply to your national Comenius and Gruntvig Agency. The deadline to apply for funds in your national agency is SEPTEMBER 17, 2013! This training event can be funded if you have a national representative for Comenius/Gruntvig Programme (only European Countries).

Day 2
Lecture: From the Big Bang to Stellar Spectra
Robotic Telescope for science in the classroom
Image Processing and analysis with Salsa J

Day 3
Exploring data archives: Sun4all, CosmoQuest, Faulkes Telescope
Session in Netherlands – COSMOS Planetarium

Day 4
Lecture: Introduction to photometry
Real research in the hands of students (i.e searching for asteroids)
Metadata and science repositories

Day 5
Petcha-Kutcha: Participants present their countries and their work
Evaluation of the course and BrainStorming
