Two Go-Lab national workshops were successfully completed by the University of Duisburg-Essen at November 20^th 2013 in Essen, Germany. The Workshops in the framework of an advanced training symposium for teachers attracted over 20 schools and teachers. Several online laboratories were demonstrated: SCY House Simulation, Buoyancy Lab, Aquarium WebLab, SalsaJ, HYPATIA, and Munich RCLs (a collection of remote labs and exercises).

The main aim of these workshops was to give the participants a pedagogical framework about experimentation in schools through constructivist approaches, self-regulated and inquiry learning, followed by an introduction to online labs. Further, participants were trained in using the Go-Lab Portal as well as in (technical) design of inquiry learning scenarios. Finally, the pros and cons of virtual and remote labs in general and how teachers could integrate them in their lessons were discussed.
