The Go-Lab Project participated in the Estonian Research Council’s National Contest organized by Educational Research and was awarded with the first prize in the category of manuscripts published in foreign languages! The paper “Identifying potential types of guidance for supporting student inquiry when using virtual and remote labs in science: a literature review” describes the Inquiry Learning Cycle developed within the Go-Lab Project. The paper aims to identify specific types of guidance for supporting student use of online labs (virtual and remote labs) in an inquiry context. To support this, the paper provides a review of the literature on the guidance within computer supported inquiry learning (CoSIL) environments in science education.
There were 11 strong contributions and the jury gave the first prize to two of them. To the Go-Lab paper and to another research presenting an empirical comparison of Estonian and Finnish students published in Learning and Instruction. The papers were also reflected in two national Estonian newspapers: in the biggest one, the Postimees, and in the Teachers’ Newspaper.
The most important outcome of this competition is that the Inquiry Learning Cycle of Go-Lab will gain more attention and will be used in many other projects and studies in the future. You can access the paper here.
